Meet Principal Katelyn Long
Katelyn Long has been principal of Cascade View Elementary School since 2022. Her passion for education and commitment to the success of all students has been shaped over the years as an elementary teacher, instructional facilitator, teacher mentor, assistant principal, mother to two children, and most recently as the principal at Fall City Elementary School here in the Snoqualmie Valley. She previously served students and their families in the Bellingham, Clover Park, Peninsula, and Snoqualmie Valley School Districts. In each of these roles, she sought to ensure success for all students through meaningful relationships, high expectations, collaboration, and a focus on continuous improvement.
Mrs. Long has a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree with a focus on General Science from Western Washington University, her Master’s in Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governor’s University, and her principal certificate from the University of Washington.
Currently, Mrs. Long resides in Black Diamond with her husband, Jared, and two daughters, one who is currently a student at Cascade View.
Meet Assistant Principal Meredith Macvean
Meredith Macvean joined Cascade View as the assistant principal in the 2023-2024 school year. She has served the students, staff, and families in the Snoqualmie Valley for nearly 10 years as an elementary teacher, teacher mentor, instructional facilitator, and district math specialist. In each of these roles, her passion for education, commitment to building meaningful relationships, and belief that each student is uniquely capable have driven and shaped her work.
Mrs. Macvean has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Georgia Southern University, a Master’s in Education in Elementary Education from Kennesaw State University, and a principal certificate from Seattle Pacific University. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher.
Mrs. Macvean was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She has lived in Washington for 10 years and currently resides in Redmond with her husband, Andrew, and two young daughters, Olive and Amelia
